IntelliDOT® Corporation and East Georgia Regional Medical Center Announce the Successful Facility Wide Implementation of Bar Code Medication Administration
SAN DIEGO, CA, & STATESBORO, GA, September 10, 2007 – IntelliDOT Corporation, an information management platform provider of safety and efficiency systems in health care, and East Georgia Regional Medical Center are pleased to announce the successful facility wide implementation of the IntelliDOT Bedside Medication Administration™ (BMA) System. East Georgia Medical Center is a 114-bed acute care hospital owned and operated by Health Management Association (HMA), located in Statesboro, GA.
The turn-key implementation was initiated on March 28, 2007 with a dedicated on-site IntelliDOT team. The first patient care area was live and running successfully on July 10, 2007, 104 days after project kickoff, and the final unit went live on August 7, 2007. The entire house-wide implementation was completed in only 132 days.
The IntelliDOT BMA System eliminates medication errors by matching the correct patient with the correct medication and method of delivery at the bedside. At 8 oz. and 14 hour battery life, the CAREt Handheld device is easily carried for the entire shift by the clinician. The handheld provides the caregiver with information anywhere in the facility while collecting critical information at the point-of-care. The BMA module interconnects with the Hospital Information System (HIS) and other IntelliDOT information management modules using the same handheld device. The CAREt System can also guide phlebotomists and nurses through the specimen collection process, match mothers and babies with the correct containers of breast milk, and accurately collect and record key vital signs information.
“Our nurses, like most, devote their lives to patient care. But unfortunately with that devotion comes hectic, long days of work, which is both physically and emotionally draining on nurses today.” said Mary Anderson, CNO for East Georgia Medical Center. "With the CAREt System up and running our nurses feel a sense of relief and peace of mind knowing they are providing their patients the best possible care at the bedside – especially on those hectic days.”
“IntelliDOT helps hospitals' improve their operations and ensures patients receive the correct medication at the bedside. It is organizations like East Georgia Medical Center that make our job easy and rewarding,” said Dave Swenson, COO for IntelliDOT. “From nursing, to pharmacy, to IT, the CAREt System was readily accepted by everyone, so much so, that reports show East Georgia's clinicians compliance of the CAREt System is over 95 percent.”
