IntelliDOT® Corporation and Central Mississippi Regional Medical Center Announce the Successful Facility Wide Implementation of Bar Code Medication Administration
SAN DIEGO, CA & JACKSON, MS , September 4, 2007 – IntelliDOT Corporation, an information management platform provider of safety and efficiency systems in health care, and Central Mississippi Regional Medical Center are pleased to announce the successful facility wide implementation of the IntelliDOT Bedside Medication Administration® (BMA) System. Central Mississippi Regional Medical Center is 429 bed acute care hospital owned and operated by Health Management Associates located in Jackson, MS.
The turn-key implementation was initiated on May 2, 2007 with a dedicated on-site IntelliDOT team. The first patient care area was live and running successfully on July 17, 2007, 76 days after project kickoff. The final unit went live on August 21, 2007, resulting in a complete house-wide implementation in only 111 days.
IntelliDOT BMA eliminates medication errors by verifying the Five Rights: right medication, right dose, right time, right route, and right patient, at the bedside. The handheld provides the caregiver with information anywhere in the facility while collecting critical information at the point-of-care. The BMA module interconnects with the Hospital Information System (HIS) and other IntelliDOT information management modules using the same handheld device. The CAREt System can also guide phlebotomists and nurses through the specimen collection process, match mothers and babies with the correct containers of breast milk, and accurately collect and record key vital signs information.
“When we were selecting a bedside administration system our executive team had two key objectives in mind, to ensure patient safety at the bedside and to implement a nurse-accepted system,” said Jim Jordan, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer for HMA. “IntelliDOT has proven their system is easy to implement, easy to learn, and easy to use as they continue to install their CAREt System in our HMA hospitals. Our nurses have accepted it, like it, and more importantly use it.”
“It was a pleasure working with the cross-functional team at Central Mississippi Regional. Their excitement, acceptance, and enthusiasm of the CAREt System stayed constant from the time we met and prepared the initial stages of implementation to the final house-wide completion,” said Shawn Orr, Vice President of Field Operations for IntelliDOT. ”With the collaborative efforts for our implementation team and Central Mississippi the installation process was extremely efficient and absolutely seamless.”
