IntelliDOT® Corporation and University Medical Center Announce the Successful Facility Wide Implementation of Bar Code Medication Administration
SAN DIEGO, CA & LEBANON, TN July 23, 2007 – IntelliDOT Corporation, an information management platform provider of safety and efficiency systems in health care, and University Medical Center are pleased to announce the successful facility wide implementation of the IntelliDOT Bedside Medication Administration™ (BMA) System. University Medical Center is an HMA 257-bed acute care hospital located in Lebanon, TN.
The turn-key implementation was initiated on February 27, 2007 with a dedicated on-site IntelliDOT team. The first patient care area was live and running successfully on June 5, 2007, 98 days after project kickoff, and the final unit went live on July 10, 2007. The entire house-wide implementation was completed in only 133 days.
IntelliDOT BMA eliminates medication errors by matching the correct patient with the correct medication and method of delivery at the bedside. At 8 ounces and with a 14 hour battery life, the CAREt handheld is easily carried for the entire shift by the clinician. The handheld provides the caregiver with information anywhere in the facility while collecting critical information at the point of care. The BMA module interconnects with the Hospital Information System (HIS) and other IntelliDOT information management modules using the same handheld device. The CAREt handheld can also guide phlebotomists and nurses through the specimen collection process, match mothers and babies with the correct containers of breast milk, and accurately collect and record key vital signs information.
”Our HMA executives underwent a thoroughly intensive process before selecting the right bedside administration system for our organization. The system had to meet our functional and technical specifications, complement the way our nurses work, and meet our aggressive rollout plan,” said Jim Jordan, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer for HMA. “As we continue down the path of implementing the CAREt System at HMA hospitals, IntelliDOT continues to prove they were the right choice for us.”
“At IntelliDOT our primary goal is to assist hospitals achieve the best possible care for their patients”, said Tom Klopack, Chief Executive Officer of IntelliDOT. “We are pleased to have another HMA hospital, University Medical Center, fully implemented and utilizing our system to protect patients from medication errors at the bedside.”
