IntelliDOT® Corporation Applauds Patient Safety Awareness Week, March 4 –10 2007

SAN DIEGO, CA, March 4th, 2007 – IntelliDOT Corporation, an innovator in patient safety and workflow management solutions for healthcare, applauds the National Patient Safety Foundation and the participating healthcare community in observing the upcoming Patient Safety Awareness Week, March 4 – 10, 2007. The week is “a national education and awareness-building campaign for improving patient safety at the local level.”

For the week of March 4 – 10th, hospitals and healthcare communities across the country are encouraged to educate patients on how to become more involved in their own health care, and work to create a greater partnership with patient communities.

Patient safety is an issue of indisputable importance within healthcare. The Institute of Medicine's landmark report To Err is Human (1999) estimated that between 44,000 to 98,000 Americans die each year from preventable medical errors; the IOM's more recent report Preventing Medication Errors (2006) estimated that 1.5 million preventable adverse drug events, or medication errors, occur in the United States each year.
